What type of engine oil should be used on a Suzuki GN250?
I have recently installed new rings and given it a valve-grind, and it now burns oil like crazy. The bore was honed correctly and all clearances have been re-checked. I changed the oil, but used automotive engine oil (Fuchs 15w-40) Is there a special oil for Suzuki or should this suffice?
Automotive Oil will protect everything fine. BUT it will not last in the trans. And it has no non-friction modifier in it. I would use ONLY an approved oil for Motorcyle’s with a wet clutch. Like Maxima, Belray, Repsol, and so on. But you should not have any major oil consumtion with car oil. Most of it is just dead dinosours. Sounds like you might have messed up a valve seal upon installation. I would try there. Good luck/
